2009 Stats: 1 win, 11 top 5's, Martinsville Speedway Pole Award and track record

Brandon stepped out of the shadows and onto the track in 2009. After supporting his father, Rick Gdovic (#64 Aquis Communications Chevrolet), he took a test drive on the track in South Boston and that was the beginning of history. Brandon qualified 8th out of 18 veterans in his first stock car race at the famed South Boston Speedway and despite starting at the rear of the field for cautionary reasons, shocked the racing community and finished 6th.

From there, Brandon went to victory lane at South Boston Speedway in only his 6th race start and capped off the race season at Martinsville Speedway by taking the pole position, setting the track record, and leading the field to 12 double file restarts as he led 37 of the 42 laps of the race which ended early due to the onset of darkness.
